Hello All!
I am only 5 days into my stay in London and I'm already filled with so much joy and excitement for what is to come! So far I have already seen a show on the West End, wandered around with no direction and made it home without looking at a map, ordered in Dim Sum with my beautiful sorority sister Emily Day and hopped from pub to pub in hopes to find the best cider in London. In my opinion, none of these experiences would have been worth my while if it weren’t for the people who have joined me on this program. It has been so unbelievably refreshing to connect and reconnect with so many amazing artists from the School of Theatre at FSU across the pond. While it might have taken leaving Tallahassee to forge these friendships, I am so grateful it has.
On Saturday night a group of us saw the closing performance of On Your Feet, the Gloria Estefan jukebox musical, which was so wildly energetic and wonderful. I have grown so interested in the ins and outs of the West End and how it all works compared to the theatre scene in NYC. Starting classes tomorrow, I’ll be able to learn from and work with West End professionals and hopefully get all my questions answered. Meanwhile, my flatmates and I plan on utilizing the space we have been given to potentially create some theatre in the style of the Student Theatre community back at home, so stay tuned for that.
Overall, I am feeling growth within myself more and more every day I am here and I cannot express how grateful I am to have this opportunity. I would love some suggestions for things and places you have loved or seen in London. There are so many things on my personal to do list that I don’t know where to start!
Hope everyone in FL stays safe during Dorian, I will be thinking about you and my home over the next few days!!!
xxxxx
Allie :)
